Student support services
An important part of the tutor role is to signpost the student to the various support services that may be applicable. Please see below a list of those services with links through to relevant webpages.
The Centre aims to promote good writing practice in all subject areas and help undergraduate and postgraduate students to develop their academic writing skills in a supportive environment. Key priorities are to support students in the transition from secondary to higher education and from undergraduate to postgraduate study.
Maths-Aid is a drop-in centre providing a free and confidential service to UG and PGT students of Newcastle University. We are dedicated to providing professional assistance and advice on all aspects of mathematics and statistics including:
- preparation for exams
- developing problem solving and numerical skills
- advice on correcting mistakes and overcoming problems in everyday academic work
- help in understanding lecture notes
- advice on graduate numerical skills tests

Student Wellbeing provides information, advice and guidance on a wide range of student support issues to enable all students to maximise their potential whilst at University.

The Student Advice Centre is a professional service provided by Newcastle University Students’ Union.
It is staffed by experienced advisers who can provide free, confidential advice on a wide range of topics including:

- finance
- legal information
- personal/family
- consumer and employment issues
The IT Service provides and supports the main computing and IT facilities at the University. IT services are available to all Newcastle University students, staff and visiting guests. They are designed to support teaching and research, and to assist the day to day running of the University.
